Description Eduardo Rocha CLA 2005-05-11 22:50:59 EDT
It should be possible to edit a html page source code e view it in browser in a
better way. I am not saying an WYSIWYG editor (which should be nice), but when I
right click a file that is already opened with the text editor and go "Open With
> Web Browser", the browser does not open. This is like that with all kind of
files and editors, but could it be that different? Currently, I am able to open
the file multiple times, but only with the same editor (menu "Window > New
Editor"). Is it possible to open it many times with different editors?

I think a simple way to solve this is allowing the Web Browser view support drag
and drop. That way, I use the text editor (or whatever html editor) and drag the
file from the navigator menu to the Web Browser. When I save the file on text
editor, I refresh the browser.

I'm going to rebrand the bug to make it more generic. I think this is an excellent idea... since we've
already gone that step to make it possible to open in more than one editor we should go this little bit
further.

Nice!!! Besides that, I think the Web Browser view should allow drag and drop
(the same way Ant view allow drag and drop a build.xml file), should I open
another bug or request for enhancement?

Can you clarify what you mean? Do you mean dragging a file over the editor area
to open it (even if no editors open), or dragging it over an existing browser
editor?

The Web Browser can be used as an Editor or as a View (Window > Show View >
Other > Basic > Web Browser). When is used as a View, it has no direct
relationship with any file, any editors, and so I mean drag the file do this view.

Similarly, when I open a build.xml, the Ant Editor opens up. And then there is
the Ant view, in which I can drag and drop the build.xml from Navigator and run
the targets. That's the behavior I am talking about.

Please enter a separate enhancement request then giving details of the scenario,
since this would have to be provided by the browser support, not the workbench
itself.
