Description Jared Burns CLA 2005-04-13 16:52:57 EDT
Build 20050413
Linux-GTK

The embedded web browser's spinner doesn't move while the browser is resolving a
host. The status line does display the correct text ("Resolving
www.vaultnetwork.com") but the spinner's inaction gives the impression that
nothing is happening.

I've tested this with the SWT Browser widget on both Windows and Linux. On
Windows, one of the first events that comes back is the ProgressEvent,
followed by several status events and progress events. I could not reproduce
the problem on Windows.

On Linux, there is a noticable gap at the start where several status events
come back over a period of seconds, but no progress events. "Resolving" is one
of these status messages. The first progress event doesn't get fired until the
first page element is actually starting to load.

If a progress listener is not reliable, there should be another mechanism to
notify between the busy/loading and not busy states. Otherwise, a progress
event should be one of the first events fired, before any loading or delays
occur.

It looks like this bug intended to go to SWT, but never made it.

This works for me, and there was a fix for GTK3 progress indicators a few weeks ago. Closing, please feel free to re-open if the issue persists.
