Description Felipe Heidrich CLA Friend 2005-03-30 17:33:53 EST
build I20050330-0500 (3.1 M6 canditate)

New version of RedHat Linux (Fedora Core 3 and Enterprise Linux WS release 4)
are using a new technology called IIIM (Intranet/Internet Input Method
Framework) to replace the old XIM (X input method). See:
http://fedora.redhat.com/projects/i18n/

When running on these new systems eclipse will crash if you attempt to enter any
character using the input method (IIIM), steps:
Run eclipse
Switch the input method to JP
Open the IM (if not already opened) Ctrl+Space
Type something, I hit 'a'
crash.

I'm really not sure what to do with this bug.
Motif is meant to work with XIM, if the System doesn't set up a XIM based input
method (like kinput2) I don't know how what can be done.

I wasn't able to get not even the smallest motif app to work with IIIM, I filed
a bug against fedora about this problem:

Comment 4 Felipe Heidrich CLA Friend 2006-05-18 14:08:04 EDT
With Fedora Core 5 one can use SCIM instead of IIIMF.
Actually, I didn't even see IIIMF as part of the regular download, only SCIM was there.

I tested SCIM with Eclipse 3.2 RC4 with German, Japanese and Chinese, they all worked fine.
Closing as WONTFIX.
