Description MG CLA 2005-03-15 17:59:14 EST
My filter is set to show everything and it lists 5169 items but the description
for each item is blank.

Nothing in the log file.
Comment 1 MG CLA 2005-03-29 19:20:17 EST
Not sure what the problem is but I did a clean build and now out of the 10,000
warnings listen 9121 of them show descriptions while the remaining do not.

this is e3.1m5a

I have duplicated this issue running on OS X with the 3.1M6 build. Seems to sometimes show the
descriptions and sometimes not. I ran a "clean" and it did not correct the problem.
Comment 3 James Greenfield CLA 2005-06-01 14:07:36 EDT
I've seen the same problem on Eclipse 3.1RC1. Specifically, if I restart Eclipse
with a project open that has instances of the following warning: The static
field XXX should be accessed in a static way.

then the description is blank after Eclipse has restarted (although it wasn't
blank when I shut Eclipse down).

I have also seen this happen many, many times. It seems that doing a clean and
then a full rebuild usually fixes the problem temporarily; subsequent builds
(without a manual clean) sometimes cause all my problems to go blank.

I am using 3.1 RC2, on Windows XP. I have been seeing this issue since the
milestone releases, but hadn't thought to enter a bug report.

For what its worth, this is a pretty serious problem for large projects.

*Note: this problem is also affecting the 'Tasks' view. When the 'Problems'
view decides to exhibit this behavior, so does the 'Tasks' view. Hopefully that
will help locate this bug...

Please raise the severity of this problem to "major"; It's definitely a major
hinderance for us. The workaround mentioned about cleaning then doing a full
build is not working for us. I can't believe 3.1 went GA with this bug. Anyone
else found a consistent way around this?
