Create Logging Agent sample. In preparation for a Hyades/TPTP presentation at EclipseCon 2005, a simple Logging Agent sample was devised and should be added to the TPTP Logging samples. The enclosed ZIP contains two plugins (authored by Antony Migeul) for a simple Logging Agent implementation and a customized launcher. The sample should include using the customized launcher for launching the Logging Agent as well as information on attaching to the running Logging Agent, both in local and remote scenarios. NOTE: The enclosed samples will need to be ported to TPTP 4.0 since they where written for Hyades 3.2.

Changing this to a feature for 4.1. Cannot be contained in 4.0.
Deferring from 4.1 as per the official 4.1 enhancement plan. http://eclipse.org/tptp/home/project_info/featureplans/features.php?source=All&project=All&release=4.1&file=TPTPFeatures_4.1.xml
Provide Logging Agent sample. Often TPTP users want to load Common Base Event log data in the TPTP Log View or extend existing proprietary loggers for live monitoring (similar to TPTP's Logging Agent support for various logging facilities, such as Java Logging). As such, provide a sample similar to the http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/ >> Documentation >> EclipseWorld 2005 >> Using and Extending the Test and Performance Tools Platform >> source >> Demo_Agents >> eclipseworld.tutorial.demo.agents.DemoLoggingAgent (and DemoStatisticalAgent) to instruct user on how to instrument Java code using the Logging Agent using the org.eclipse.hyades.logging.core.LoggingAgent class in the org.eclipse.hyades.logging.core plugin. The sample could also point to the TPTP product documentation on deploying plugins to a remote Agent Controller for remote monitoring (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/ >> Documentation >> EclipseWorld 2005 >> Using and Extending the Test and Performance Tools Platform >> source >> Demo_Agents).

Created attachment 39704 [details] Demo Logging Agent.
Can we increase the priority of this feature since it has been opened for over a year and there is a current need to illustrate how developers can write to the org.eclipse.hyades.logging.core.LoggingAgent Logging Agent?
When completed, replace the JSR-047 Logging Sample with this sample in: help/topic/org.eclipse.tptp.platform.doc.user/concepts/cmonlogagt.html help/topic/org.eclipse.tptp.platform.doc.user/tasks/tdynattach.htm
Raising priority as requested by submitter. Users are asking for documentation and samples for creating logging agents.
Reassigning defects to current component owner.
Reassigning to new component lead.
Moving untargetted enhancements to Future target.
As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As such, TPTP is not delivering enhancements. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement is resolved as WONTFIX. For this enhancement to be considered, please re-open with an attached patch including the Description Document (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/description_documents.html), code (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/resources/TPTPDevGuide.htm), and test cases (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/TPTP_Testing_Strategy.html).
