Description Wayne Ho CLA 2004-09-22 14:52:13 EDT
This feature is related to the defect
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=55804 which provided an interim
fix the the issue for the 3.0.1 timeframe.

I am opening the feature to track for 3.1 (or beyond).

Problem Description:
The launch configurations displayed in the "Run As>" menu (in the Run toolbar &
Run pulldown menu) are not context-sensitive. This may result in a large number
of launch configurations for a user to navigate through, some of which may not
be relevant for a given selection/context.

The launch shortcuts shown in the "Run >" context menu do not match those that
appear in the "Run As>" menu in the toolbar & Run pulldown menu. One is
selection based, where the other is perspective based.

Possible solutions for consideration:
* make the top level menu the same as the context menu (both to be
context-sensitive and would result in "Run>", "Debug>", and "Profile>" cascades
in the Run pulldown menu
* move the "Run...", "Debug...", "Profile..." actions into the cascade menus

When the user wishes to launch, if there is no appicable context shortcut,
"Run...", "Debug...", etc. can be chosen to create a launch config of the
appropriate kind.

As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant enhancements/defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement/defect is verified/closed by the Project Lead since the originator of this enhancement/defect has an inactive Bugzilla account and considered to be fixed. If this enhancement/defect is still unresolved and reproducible in the latest TPTP release (http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/), please re-open.
