Description Tom Tromey CLA 2004-05-27 18:08:38 EDT
Many programs on Linux systems support a "--help" option,
which prints a short summary of command line options to
stdout (and then exits normally). It would be helpful
if eclipse supported this as well.

The standards on this are pretty thin, all I found was the
fairly unhelpful:

http://www.gnu.org/prep/standards_18.html

(This goes into great detail on --version, which may also be
useful.)

For a good example of --help output (there are plenty of
bad examples :-) try one of the file utils, like "cp".

I couldn't find a launcher category, so I filed this
under platform/core.
