I200405200010, Linux 2.6.4, GTK+ 2.4.0, KDE 3.2.2. I have two view open: an editor on the right, and an outline view on the left. All other views are fast views. I open the package explorer as a fast view, and it is on top of the outline view. I switch to the CVS perspective and then back to the Java perspective. The title bar and bottom outline of the package explorer fast view are still there, even though the outline view contents are still visible. The right-hand piece of the package explorer sash is also missing. I cannot reproduce in a self-hosted workspace.
This is one of the bugs I was talking about.
This could be the same behaviour I get with 3.3M4. In my Debug perspective, the console is docked below the editor. In the Java perspective, it is a fast view. When switching from the Debug to the Java perspective, the console contents pane and its toolbar icons remain visible, while the rest of its frame disappears (as the entire console should). Once I click the fastview icon of the console, the strange remnants vanish and the console shows up in its accustomed place. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this in a simple pure install of 3.3M4. If necessary, I could send my workspace definition.
I forgot to say I am running 3.3 M4 with the new 3.3 presentation active. With 3.2 presentation the bug does not occur. When switching back from 3.3 to 3.2 pres, the console was initially there as *both* the fast view icon and where it was in the debug perspective. Now I've switched back to 3.3 pres and the bug is gone! I could probably dig up the old workspace def from somewhere still.
Peter, this is a known defect in the new presentation when a view is 'shared' between two perspectives and is in a minimized stack in one... The good news is that my current code doesn't exhibit this any more. I'm sure that the original bug wasn't this (2005) but I'll use it anyway...
