Description Matthew Conway CLA 2004-05-18 10:39:03 EDT
It would be nice if working sets could use wildcards. This would make them much
more robust w.r.t. changes to the filesystem (especially in a team environment)
- i.e. if the intent of your workingset is to pick up all files of a certain
type in a directory tree, you can specify a wildcard, and if files of that type
are later added, you don't have to update your working set because it used a
wildcard. This would make it much easier to share and maintain workingsets in a
team environment.

This applies to both workingsets in the navigator views and in the rules for
triggering builders. This would be a boon even if there wasn't a way to specify
this in the UI; so long as the underlying code handles it correctly, workingsets
could be edited by hand (and possibly checked it) to do the right thing.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

This functionality is provided by 'Oomph Dynamic Working Sets'

https://wiki.eclipse.org/Dynamic_Working_Sets

@Ed, do you have any plans to move this functionality into Platform? Or should we just close this bug?
Comment 6 Ed Merks CLA 2020-10-30 08:14:14 EDT
There are no plans to move it. There are too many other dependencies on Oomph utilities and Oomph's base model.
Comment 7 Rolf Theunissen CLA 2020-11-01 05:57:02 EST
I think that solution provided by Oomph is mature, well maintained and can be installed without pulling in many dependencies. Re-implementing the same functionality in Platform-UI would be a waste or resources.

Closing this one.
