The latest release tool (I downloaded from build page and used with 5/6 I-build) 
is great. (Allowing to select project of maps first is all (or last thing) that 
was needed for us to use on a non-eclipse repository). I have noticed, though, 
that it seems like the final 'Finish' button is never enabled, unless I leave 
check the earlier choice to "release only those projects which have changed". 

Guess this could be advertised as a feature :)

Occasionally, I do like to "release" a whole set of projects though, even if not 
changed, just to have all the CVS tags be the same.
