There are draw problems with minimized views.
The current appearance of minimized views is: - if there is only one tab, then we get what looks like the title bar (includes the toolbar), but it looks like a few too many pixels have been removed from the bottom - if there are many tabs in the folder, then we get just the tab list (without the toolbar). We should decide what the proper behaviour should be in this case. Perhaps we should try to disable view minimization?
I've been looking at minimized views a bit more, in particular the differences between a folder with one tab vs. one with many tabs. The current behaviour of minimizing a folder with many tabs is to draw the tab selection line (and that's all). I don't think this provides anything that is not provided by a fast view. So I don't think we should ever draw a minized folder in that manner. Minimizing a folder that has a single tab does provide some added functionality since the toolbar is visible and active. This might be useful to some users, since they could make view changes without an extra click to open the folder. What do people think about making a minimized folder always draw with the title and tool bars of the top most view -- i.e., the folder's inactive views would be completely hidden?
andrew and I just talked this over. Minimize is designed to get a view or views out of the way temporarily, so it seems like it should work as it does. There is a bug with the height of a minimized view when there is a single view.. the height needs to be a little larger.
