I have the attached plugin loaded as source in my workspace.

Whenever I launch a runtime-workbench (which opens on the resource perspective),
the view provided by this plugin is not visible (only the tab is being
displayed) however the plugin is being started!

I'm marking as critical since this is a regression from 2.1.

Hmm... I found a possible cause. PartTabFolder.showPart(...) contains code to
always select the first part that gets inserted.

This may cause the first view in a folder to get eagerly loaded, even if it
isn't visible.

Fixed in head. I tested this with your plugin, and it seems to work fine now.
