Description Nathan Ridge CLA 2019-07-07 02:25:07 EDT
I've been experiencing a really strange problem with the Eclipse IDE: the cursor is no longer rendered in the editor.

It's there on IDE startup, and disappears basically as soon as I move it, and never comes back. Naturally, this makes editing very cumbersome.

This happens in both the JDT and CDT editors, so I assume it's a platform issue.

It happens both with and without SWT_GTK3=0, so I assume it's not a GTK issue (though I suppose it could be a GTK issue that affects both GTK2 and GTK3)?

If you have any suggestions for how I could diagnose the issue further, please let me know.

Running with GTK_IM_MODULE= in the environment (to clear the previous value of GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, which I have no idea where it comes from) fixes the problem. I guess that makes this a dupe of bug 517671.

(I see a patch landed there to issue a warning if GTK_IM_MODULE=xim is in the environment, but I did not get such a warning...)
