If we want user to refer to Eclipse as Eclipse IDE, then we need to encourage this practice everywhere. The splash screen should say "Eclipse IDE".
If we want more fairness with other non-IDE related Eclipse.org projects and a clearer Eclipse brand which associates to more than an IDE, I think it's important to complete this soon.

Mickael I agree the Eclipse brand identity needs to be clarified. This is something I am working on.
OK for EPPs but not for Platform.

Despite I'm entirely confident of my image design skills, many people told me it's not really a job for me ;) So let's have a professional doing it. Usually, when we change the Splash Screen, for the Simultaneous Release in June, the Splash is provided by a designer together with the SVG. That's the SVG I have mind that we could export in 2 flavors: SDK and IDE.

We did not for the Platform. I think last time(s) Kat from the Foundation did it for us. Not sure we get that this time, see bug 518941 comment 5.

The splashscreen is the one that's used by Platform, SDK and EPP. Now that EPP and SDK can have different splash, we can leverage the SVG provided by the Foundation to get variations of it for both deliveries, and name Eclipse IDE. > Not sure we get that this time, see bug 518941 comment 5. Hi All, I've created and attached two files for the new Photon splash screen to bug no 518941. One says "Eclipse SDK" and the other says "Eclipse IDE"; they are labeled accordingly and are both SVG. files. Please take a look, review, and give feedback. Thank you, Stephanie
