Description Luigi Manosperta CLA 2017-10-14 07:19:11 EDT
After installing Eclipse IDE for C/C++, I didn't find the "Eclipse Marketplace" in the "Help" menu...
I tried adding, in the eclipse.ini file, the "-clean" [new paragraph] -initialize" entries, starting Eclipse, removing the added rows, and starting again Eclipse but it still didn't work.

Moving to CDT.
Comment 2 Markus Knauer CLA 2017-11-23 08:28:15 EST
Up to and including Photon M3 (4.8 M3) there was no contribution of the marketplace client to the Simultaneous Release. For that reason its inclusion is disabled in all EPP packages.

Moving to MPC... I think there was another bug report with the same or similar content. Maybe it would be better if you'd always contribute, even if there is nothing new from the MPC project.

+1.

I fixed the issue in MPC that lead to its disablement and re-enabled the simrel contribution.

Typically, MPC would be part of all milestones, at least with the previous release version. Unfortunately, there was a compatibility issue with that version and Photon, leading to its disablement, and I didn't get around to fixing that sooner. Sorry for that, I'll put a higher priority on that in the future.

It is missing even in version 4.8 on Linux 64bit. Does anyone know how to get it back? (configuration, plugins?)

Ok, I have a solution: previously I downloaded the SDK distribution where the Marketplace is missing. Now I downloaded Java EE distribution and here the Marketplace is present.

Yes, the Marketplace Client is not included in the SDK, only in the distribution packages. If you want to use the SDK with the Marketplace Client, you can install it from its update site using Help / Install New Software... : http://download.eclipse.org/mpc/photon

But getting the Eclipse for Committers package should give you pretty much the same experience as with the SDK, with a few things added on top, like the Marketplace Client.
