Post M7 On systems with a left-to-right writing direction the mouse typically operates in the top left quadrant of the screen. In Eclipse this area typically contains the navigator, the left part of an editor (where most of the action is), the toolbar, the more important menus of the menu bar, and in pre-M7 Eclipse the perspective toolbar buttons. Now with Post-M7 the perspective toolitems were moved to the far right. As a result I have to move the mouse across the full screen just to press a single button. In addition in pre-M7 the perspective buttons were at the left hand side of the screen. They can be easily reached because I dont have to position the mouse carefully: I could just "slam" the mouse to the left of the screen and it would stop there (similar to the Mac's menu bar at the top of the screen). Now with the new location I have to carefully position the mouse which is even harder because I had to travel a long distance and the mouse has gotten into accelerated mode. It's very difficult for me to see the new location as an improvement.
I too have been caught moving my mouse to the left and then nothing. I suspect that the location change was made to (1) save screen real-estate, (2) allow showing the perspective name beside the icons. Personnaly I have gotten used to *always* using CTRL-F8 to switch.
