https://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/news/4.7/M4/ shows the Javadoc popup in the dark theme. This is not how it looks like for me (using Ubuntu 16.04).

What is your eclipse build?

Do you have eclipse colors set to default (information/javadoc) or to some other color?

Which version of ubuntu are you on btw?

16.04 as stated in my initial comment. ;-)

Eclipse SDK
Version: Oxygen (4.7)
Build id: I20161205-2000
OS: Linux, v.4.4.0-47-generic, x86_64 / gtk 3.18.9, WebKit 2.4.11

Not that I'm aware of. I now resetted "Colors and Fonts" to default but still the Javadoc popup is light.

I asked that clearly before I had my coffee :-P.

Hmm, I can't reproduce with I20161205 build, not with Gtk3.18 either.
(See attached).

I suppose you have default Ubuntu out of the box (or some custom spin?). No custom themes or anything like that?
If so, then I might have to setup ubuntu to research this further.

Correct. I use Ubuntu out-of-the-box. No customization.

Just to clarify:

1) Is this a regression, i.e has it had nice colors before, but now it doesn't have nice colors?

2) Or has it never had the desired colors, the news advertises that it has nice colors but in fact on ubuntu it still has the old colors?
Comment 11 Lars Vogel CLA 2016-12-08 14:35:09 EST
The popup used to be always dark on Linux, so it was fitting to the dark theme. This way you may say it is a regression.
