The Eclipse platform sometimes unable to open views. In this case we should not throw exceptions but fail and log the event. 

The following problem was reported via the automated error reporting:

This is actually very likely to be another duplicate of Bug 488719.

We were swallowing the root cause of the exception, which I fixed.
