Steps to reproduce:
1) Window - Preferences - Genereal - Appearence - Colors and Fonts - Basic - Text Font - Edit
2) Set (I used font DejaVu Sans Mono Book) size 10,5
3) Type some text and underscore symbols in Eclispe editor - "_" is invisible

I guess it's freetype's problem.
