multiple records shown pointing to same exact file

Hi,
I have multi maven project like
om
  om-mod1
    om-sub-mod1
      a.file
    om-sub-mod2
  om-mod2
  ...

When i try to open a particular resource (ctrl+shift+r) i see multiple records pointing to the very same file. i.e. :

if i search for a.file in structure above it shows me 2 or 3 records like:
a.file om/om-mod1/om-sub-mod1
a.file om-mod1/om-sub-mod1
a.file om-submod1

The reason why this issue marked as major is that if i pick first or second options i open the file like i opened it from out-side of it's project and my package explorer jumps to folders under the parent project. some times even auto build isn't working if i try to modify this files but it doesn't happen often.

first i tried to file the same bug against STS but as per them this functionality is deep inside Eclipse and they can't fix it.

Hi,

you can use one option in Open Resource View :
 - Filter Duplicated Resources

It's available since Eclipse Mars. See https://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/news/4.5/M7/

Thanks a lot for the quick response,

You have just made my life much easier :-) i really appreciate it.
if i may ask, why this checkbox is not checked by default?

I don't know. As a regular user, I hope this option will checked by default in next major release.

Add CC Mickael Istria for a potential answer.

There is no good reason other than legacy ;) Can you please open an enhancement request to suggest applying this filter by default?
