I20151207-2000.

Steps (See attached screenshot):
1. Have the following in a text editor:

1 ABC DEF GHI JKL MNO PQR STU VWX YZ
2 ABC DEF GHI JKL MNO PQR STU VWX YZ
3 ABC DEF GHI JKL MNO PQR STU VWX YZ

2. Split the editor horizontally and enable word wrap for the editor at bottom.

3. Shrink the editors so that the bottom editor shows wrapped lines.

4. Place caret in the top editor after "ABC" and keep pressing a key (say, 'a') until vertical scroll bar appears in the bottom editor and it is scrolled a bit.

=> The line numbers in bottom editor are not correct anymore - "2 ABC..." which should have been at line 2 is shown somewhere else (depending on how much the editor has scrolled).

Bringing the focus to the bottom editor fixes the issue.

Just noticed, it has nothing to do with the split editor. It happens in any editor with word wrap enabled, when the vertical scroll bar appears while typing and the editor is scrolled. Re-focusing on the editor fixes the line numbers.

I can reproduce this. Just keep pressing 'a' until the thumb appears.

I didn't get it. What are the steps to reproduce without splitting the editor?
If I just keep typing "a" editor start to scroll sooner or later but I do not see *where* the line numbers should be broken.

But if I constantly type in the editor, the editor *is* focused?

As soon as the thumb appears, the line number 2 appears on a line that actually belongs to line 1. Let me know if that's not enough and I'll attach a screenshot.

Just wondering if this is split editor specific issue, see for example bug 488026.
Comment 7 Eclipse Genie CLA 2021-11-12 12:47:19 EST
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
