Description Marc-André Laperle CLA 2015-11-27 13:57:13 EST
We use the test.performance framework along with derby. Since the efforts to move the performance tests to eclipse.org (bug 390821) we have to get apache.derby from http://build.eclipse.org/eclipse/buildtools/

However, using this server has been causing trouble, see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=483118#c3

I would like to propose moving this do download.eclipse.org so it would be more reliable. Of course, we could mirror this and host it somewhere else ourselves, but ideally, all project could reuse the same update site.

This is a fair enhancement request. Thanks for opening.

When you say "we", do you mean as an Eclipse Foundation project? Or "merely" as an adopter? If the former, you yourself could put in a CQ for your project, and then an Orbit CQ, then put in Orbit, then I could use your copy :) If the later, then I understand it is not that easy.

The reason I have not gone through all these steps is because I am still wrestling with our performance tests and analyses so am not 100% confident that is the long term solution I want (I would say I am 90% confident it is).

Also, a) this bundle is easy to make and deploy "from the IDE" and b) is only a "test-time dependency" ... not something we have to distribute and probably do not want to distribute. Others could use other databases with the performance framework (or, no databases) so I'd say this is a case of "he who has the need does the deed" :)

But, do appreciate you raising the issue.

Yes, "we" as an Eclipse project (Trace Compass). I can try to put it in Orbit, I think that's ideal so that everyone can reuse it and it would be easy to find. I am not a committer for Orbit though, but I'll see if I can get commit rights.

Created CQ https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10496
(with buggy summary)

The new version of Derby is now in Orbit and test.performance can use it (on master branch), see bug 494234.
