On my Win2000 machine, which doesn't have MS Office installed, but does have WinZip, I created: test.txt test.doc test.ppt test.zip test.doc and test.ppt get the default text file icon (same as .txt). In Windows Explorer, creating files with the same names gives different icons: test.doc gets an icon which looks like a notepad with a red A in the corner test.ppt gets the default Windows unknown file type icon test.zip is OK. It gets the zip file icon (same as in Explorer). NOTES: NE (06/01/01 3:34:31 PM) I believe this was looked at earlier by TC, but is still a (minor) problem. NE (06/01/01 3:38:15 PM) The Wordpad icon is found in %ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\WORDPAD.EXE, which is referred to in the registry entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wordpad.Document.1\DefaultIcon, which is referred to by HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.doc KH (9/19/2001 2:33:47 PM) Move to SWT after verifying Workbench code. EJP (9/24/2001 1:33:23 PM) See PR: 1GKEZTA: SWT:WIN2000 - Program icons are not shown in the external editors dialog. Moving to SWT.

Tod, which bug did you mean to mark this as a duplicate of?
It looks similar to Bug 8232 but not the same - I can't find the other one - sorry.
*** Bug 142934 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and remove the stalebug whiteboard tag. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -
