Description Troy Bishop CLA 2003-10-31 22:56:34 EST
It would be nice to have a mechanism to export task view filters to a file and
then have a button in the filters dialog which will "Restore My Default
Filters", effectively reading this file and setting the filters to be my
preferred default filters on any workspace, rather than the Eclipse defaults.

I am not sure why this was marked as a duplicate of bug 41325 as it deals with
filters in the same workspace. This was a request for filters to be preserved
across any new workspaces rather than having the Eclipse defaults being applied
to them. If this can be done then please let me know as I am unable to
determine how to do this using the 3.0 M8 build.

We now have declarative filters so you can do this with a plug-in
Comment 4 Troy Bishop CLA 2005-11-03 12:55:04 EST
I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for closing this defect... While the new
filtering mechanism in Eclipse v3.2 is very nice, I would still like to be able
to make the filter(s) that I create in one workspace available with any other
workspace. This currently does not happen so I am puzzled as to why this defect
was returned as WORKSFORME. Is it be possible for Eclipse to provide this
enhancement?
Comment 5 Tod Creasey CLA 2005-11-03 13:04:55 EST
You can always declare them in a plug-in and use them that way. I gather what
you after though is ones you can export?
Comment 6 Troy Bishop CLA 2005-11-03 14:33:37 EST
Well, I would prefer not have to export from one workspace and import into
another, but instead for all created filter 'sets' to just be there for all
workspaces.

The update manager works in this same fashion... Try creating a 'Remote Site' in
one workspace (it doesn't even need to be value). Now open a new workspace -
it's automatically available (see bug 45905).

I was hoping to have the same functionality for the filters.

Filters are now exported with preferences
Comment 8 Troy Bishop CLA 2006-04-07 10:46:59 EDT
This is perfect - thanks! The only problem remaining with this enhancement is bug 135555.
