The design goal when replacing the search on the server was to leave the Orion client as is and have both searches (old and new) available via a server preference.

Now that we have permanently enabled the new search ( Bug 450017 ), we can look at making improvements to the overall search experience.

I will make this enhancement the parent for the various search improvements.
