Description Wolfgang Mayer CLA 2014-10-24 04:47:37 EDT
On Kubuntu 14.10 ECLIPSE Luna SR1 (x86_64) completely crashes after
startup on 1 - 2 mouseclicks:
ERROR:
java: /build/buildd/gtk2-engines-oxygen-1.4.5/src/animations/oxygencomboboxdata.cpp:87: void Oxygen::ComboBoxData::setButton(GtkWidget*): Zusicherung »!_button._widget« nicht erfüllt.

Hello (Guten Tag) Wolfgang,

Judging from this line:
gtk2-engines-oxygen
You're using the oxygen theme with gtk2. Those two together seem to cause crashes.

Ref1:
"Per instructions found on the Ubuntu site, I can change the GTK2 theme from oxygen to Raleigh and the crash goes away."
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=419729

Ref2:
http://www.exelisvis.com/Support/HelpArticles/TabId/185/ArtMID/800/ArticleID/13816/Using-GTK2-oxygen-gtk-Theme-or-Oxygen-Widget-Style-on-Linux-can-cause-IDL-83-Workbench-to-crash.aspx

Could you please try to change your *Gtk* theme and see if the issue still occurs?
Please try "Adwaita". It works well with Eclipse.

You can use Ubuntu Tweak tool for this purpose:

Comment 2 Arun Thondapu CLA 2014-11-11 12:37:05 EST
As pointed out in comment 1, this crash is caused by using the oxygen gtk theme and nothing much can be done in Eclipse or SWT to prevent/fix the crash. Closing the bug as NOT_ECLIPSE.
Comment 3 Arun Thondapu CLA 2015-04-01 02:42:06 EDT
This bug has been fixed in the oxygen-gtk2 theme itself, refer to bug 445220 for details.
