SGI open source FAM could be detected on startup, and if present, the workspace
directory could be registered, with events causing workspace refresh.  add file,
remove file, etc.  It would certainly eliminate much triviality when adding a
library from the cmd line, when files were generated with ant build, etc.

I know there is atleast one excellent JNI fam interface out there...
