We make use of internal / non-API classes to support navigation and tab bar items.

I'm assuming that we do this because there are no other options available. Marking as wontfix. If new information or new arguments come to light, please reopen.

I've just discussed with Tamas that there might be a way to - at least - address the aspect of using / supporting internal types / classes. I'll set a depending relationship to the other bug.
