Description Adam Briska CLA 2014-06-11 12:11:50 EDT
I found this in a custom RCP app that we are updating to 4.4.

Specifically, I have an editor with an associated EditorActionBarContributor that adds items to the toolbar.

With the above setup, I do the following:

1. Start the application.
2. Open a new editor
3. Create a new window
4. Open a new editor in window 2
5. Drag editor 1 into window 2
6. In window 2, switch the focus back and forth between the two editors.

Note that when editor 1 is the active editor, the toolbar in window 1 is active and the toolbar in window 2 is deactivated, even though editor 1 in now in window 2.

I would expect that when the editor is dragged into the new window, the editor would be tied to the toolbar in that window.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

I have reviewed this behavior in our current applications, and I am no longer convinced that the underlying issues are eclipse-specific.

The one possible eclipse bug is that I am not seeing action bar contribution items upon dragging an editor to a blank window, but I am not able to rule out an error in our code.

In our applications, we have disabled dragging an editor to a new window, so this is not a pressing issue for us. If we decide to re-enable this functionality in our applications, and if we find that there are eclipse issues, we will enter a new bug report.
