Description Jan Koehnlein CLA 2014-06-06 04:21:45 EDT
Seems to be Mac specific, but happens on Retina as well as old-style displays
Steps to reproduce
- Install Luna
- Enable dark theme
- Opened a new Java class
- Go to Preferences > Java > Editor > Syntax Coloring and uncheck 'bold' e.g. for keywords
- Apply
=> keywords will appear in bold (should be normal)
- Reenable 'bold'
=> keywords appear in normal font (should be bold)

As this also happens for other languages, e.g. Xtend, I assume a SWT problem here. Debugging Xtend confirmed that the correct text styles are passed on to SWT.

Which eclipse build are you using? I don't see this on eclipse-4.4-RC4 build (Build id: I20140606-1215)

I can see the issue on Luna RC4.

May be because you are on 10.9 (I tried on 10.7.5). Can you try with any other theme and see if it has the problem?

Which version of OSX are you on?

I am on 10.9.3

Just installed Mars on a new Mac running OS X 10.10.5, and the moment I started configuring Eclipse, it became apparent that the text editor has bold fonts.

If I go and configure Java > Editor > Syntax Coloring, activating Bold on individual items has the effect of making the items non-bold.

I’m using OS X with a Retina display, but Eclipse is on an external Acer S231HL monitor @ 1920x1080.

Unlike the original bug reporter, I’m not using the Dark theme, although I did switch to it to try it out.

Please let me know if there’s any more information I can provide.

Do you still see this problem on OSX 10.11 with 4.5.2 or any of the 4.6 builds?
I can't reproduce it on 10.11.3 with 4.5.2 & 4.6 M6.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
