Description Sven Köhler CLA 2003-09-11 12:20:47 EDT
Hi,

I checked out 2 projects from the same repository. One projects is connected to
the HEAD branch, and the other to a different branch.
I copied a folder from the one project to the another one. What i didn't expect
is, that the branch-tag is copied (the hidden CVS folder must have been copied i
think) and that resulted in a "mixed" project.

I believe that this behaviour is not intentional. So i reported this as a bug.

what does VCM stand for? (just asking so that next time i'll select the right
Component for the Bug)

VCM = Version Configuration Management

As for the reported problem, unfortunately, there is not much we can do unless
we can differentiate a copy from other operations for which the change in tag
was intended. We do, however, have an operation that you can use that will
work. Perform a Compare with Branch or Version and choose Copy from Right to
Left on the folder you want to copy.

I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 7 since it is a request for
preservation of copy semantics which would allow us to differentiate a copy
from other operations.
