Since several month, we face random failures in one of our unit tests. After waiting for some time, the test is stable again and the build succeeds without any change in the source code. One possible reason for this failure might be some network resource that is temporarily unavailable. Maybe one of the libraries that we are using tries to load a DTD or XSD in the background that is not avialable. Can you tell if something happened around 25.01.2014 05:45:38 (build https://hudson.eclipse.org/vex/job/mylyn-docs-vex.ci/695/)? - A network outage? - A cron job? - Anything? After about 30min later, the build succeeded again (https://hudson.eclipse.org/vex/job/mylyn-docs-vex.ci/696/).
Might be related to bug 422852. Although usually when we see random failures it has to do with Ports being opened. I cannot tell from your failed tests if any of them were trying to open up ports. I suspect that sometimes the physical server may be too busy with all the jobs being run. A few weeks ago we moved the Scout project HIPP from hipp2 to another server and it appears to have helped. I am looking into moving the platform project HIPP to another server to see if it helps the issue more.

Don't know if it helps, there was another failure: https://hudson.eclipse.org/vex/job/mylyn-docs-vex.ci/697/ Maybe you can find something in your logs at the given time.

Florian, it has been a year now.. How has your build system been?
(In reply to Denis Roy from comment #5) > Florian, it has been a year now.. How has your build system been? No abnormal build failures occurred for a long time now. I think we can close this one. Thank you!
Good to hear!
