The splashscreen should be improved so that the plug-in names which are loaded are readable. I think the "Loading Workbench" text can be removed.

After this change it also feel as if the Workbench is staring faster. @Daniel, how can I measure the startup time, I think I have seen you doing it before.

-> After this change it also feels as if the workbench is starting faster.

Found the UIStartup test but this test does unfortunately not include the splash screen.

Manual using the stop watch I got the following numbers:

With this patch my runtime IDE started (in sec):

8.05
7.84
7.90

Without this patch:

8:21
8:05
8.23

So with my limited possibilities to measure start time, at least the change makes the startup a little bit faster.

If I activate the "perf" tracing option in the launch configuration for the Eclipse IDE, I get the following numbers

With patch:
Application Started: 6960
Application Started: 6997
Application Started: 7098

Without patch:
Application Started: 7054
Application Started: 7071
Application Started: 7067

I find it hard to determine that this change really speeds something up, but it seems to do no harm and it makes the splash screen less flashy.
