I always set editor pinning to only open 1 new editor before closing old ones, and I utilize the pinning to keep open the editors I want. Since the redesign (in 4.0?), the pinning has been broken. The pin on the toolbar never toggles to show if the editor is pinned. And the editors that are pinned (I have to discover empirically by opening new editors) are not persisted on restart. This is a regression from the 3.x behavior.
It would be nice if the pin was still decorated on the editor tab icon so users would know which ones were in the pin state. Why was this changed?

Is this a duplicate of https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=387579 ?
Bug 387579 definitely has the longer discussion thread about editor pinning. Unless I'm missing something, I believe this should be marked as a duplicate.
