Basically, let an env. var (ECLIPSE_WORKSPACE would be fine, or whatever) be settable for the location of the workspace. It should be little more than a shortcut for specifying -data on the command-line. The code path in eclipse.exe should be simple enough. However, an env var is better since the same Eclipse shortcut can exist for all users, and only those that need to override the default workspace location need set the variable. It also makes it simpler in the single-person case that they can keep an env var set to one place (c:\workspace or whatever) and fully uninstall one version of eclipse and install a new version w/o having to re- edit anything to let the new install know of their preferred workspace location

Marking as WONTFIX. We already key off the home directory and the data parameter is still available. Yet another way of specifying the location isn't that valuable to us.
