Created attachment 226921 [details] ibm stack trace I launched N20130211-2000 on a completely new workspace, and it core dumped. I've attached the java stack trace, it appears to have been in web kit. 3XMTHREADINFO "main" J9VMThread:0x00007FAC60090100, j9thread_t:0x00007FAC6002DA20, java/lang/Thread:0x00007FAC1A204198, state:R, prio=6 3XMTHREADINFO1 (native thread ID:0x2E9D, native priority:0x6, native policy:UNKNOWN) 3XMTHREADINFO2 (native stack address range from:0x00007FAC679C1000, to:0x00007FAC683C2000, size:0xA01000) 3XMTHREADINFO3 Java callstack: 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/swt/internal/webkit/WebKitGTK._webkit_web_view_new(Native Method) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/swt/internal/webkit/WebKitGTK.webkit_web_view_new(WebKitGTK.java:1245) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/swt/browser/WebKit.create(WebKit.java:512) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/swt/browser/Browser.<init>(Browser.java:99) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/ui/internal/intro/impl/presentations/BrowserIntroPartImplementation.createPartControl(BrowserIntroPartImplementation.java:209) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/ui/internal/intro/impl/model/IntroPartPresentation.createPartControl(IntroPartPresentation.java:231) 4XESTACKTRACE at org/eclipse/ui/intro/config/CustomizableIntroPart.createPartControl(CustomizableIntroPart.java:204)
This happens on N20130212-2000 as well PW
My eclipse coredumps every time JDT tries to open some javadoc. PW
This works for me, tried on 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 with almost the identical JRE. I'm assuming this is a new problem for you, but there haven't been any relevant SWT changes in a while. Has anything changed on your machine lately? Which linux distro are you using?
The I build works but the N builds don't for some reason. I did take a patches upgrade on Monday, that make some changes. I'm on Open Client RHEL 64 3.30 (Gold Master) which is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation release 6.3 (Santiago) webkitgtk-1.2.6-2.el6_0.x86_64 I'm just downloading the SR3 version of the JDK to try that instead. PW
Created attachment 227035 [details] Another stack trace I can reproduce it on SR3 as well PW
I can reproduce the problem using Oracle jdk1.7.0_11 ... but it won't produce an hs_err file for me. PW
I can't reproduce on my system using I20130204-1400 PW
Are you remoting to the linux box from another machine by any chance? I ask because a crash occurred for me when I accessed our Fedora 17 from my OS X 10.5, but it worked from OS X 10.8. I've seen this before, where an X client is a bit too old. Not sure if this could be the case here or not (?).
In this case, the working and non-working examples are both on my primary workstation X (:0.0) PW 7
This is caused by the fix for bug 400195. SSQ will look into the fix.
I have removed the changes that made the g_thread* functions dynamic (bug 400195). Paul, please try the next nightly build. Fixed. http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.swt.git/commit/?id=6ae8951accb46e97f227c11cf47b6c3d216de861
N20130214-2000 does not crash for any more.
I can also confirm N20130214-2000 and cbi-4.2.0.I20130214-2011 don't crash anymore on my box. Thanks guys. PW
