Description Nikolay Metchev CLA 2003-07-08 05:02:23 EDT
At the moment wheneven you set a view to be fastview it disapears on the left
hand side. It would be nice if it could stay where it is (e.g. top, right,
left, bottom etc.) So that when it does pop-up it can pop up from any direction.

The ability to assign a keystroke to the Fast View would be great also (Like in
IntelliJ - Alt-1 brings up the Project view, etc)
Comment 5 Nick Edgar CLA 2004-01-22 10:09:51 EST
Different placement of fast views is under consideration with the new look.
MvM, please see last comment for key binding request.
Note that Ctrl+F7 can already be used to switch between views.
Comment 6 Rob Roland CLA 2004-01-22 14:16:20 EST
Right, Ctrl-F7 does work but isn't quite as fast as a direct keybinding to each
view.

Thanks!!

I just want to clarify a few things here:

1) The title says allow fast views on the bottom, but the first comment seems
to say they should stay where they are when dropped on the fast view bar

Are you saying all views should keep their location, or just ones on the
bottom?

2) there is a second request for a key-stoke for the fast view bar,

that should be logged as a second bug if you want to ask for it. Otherwise
the request will be lost
Comment 8 Nikolay Metchev CLA 2004-02-16 18:14:31 EST
all views should keep their location so that you can make them pop out from
the left, right, top or bottom.

I agree with others who commented on this enhancement request. This feature is
long overdue IMHO and should be included in 3.0 final release. A user should
be able to "glue" a fast view on left, right and bottom at least. I haven't
seen a top fast view in any IDE environment and I am not sure how it would
work anyway.

The use case for left fast view has already been widely publicized with JUnit
fast view. Console, problems, error log and search view could not be a better
use case for bottom fast view. Ant view for a right fast view? Let the user
customize fast views the way he/she wants.

views (code in HEAD as of 20040224) can now be docked on left, right, and
bottom and maintain their basic wide vs tall shape.

marking as fixed. Key discussions should move to a new bug report as it is a
separate issue
