Description Grant Gayed CLA 2012-12-11 12:10:31 EST
- running on Fedora 17
- 4.3M4 test build, observed on both x86 and x86_64

- install the typical Git plugins through Help > Install New Software...
- restart Eclipse
- open the Git Repository Exploring perspective and note that the Git Repositories view has a black background, instead of the expected white background

possibly another case of the same problem

- Window > Preferences
- go to the Java > Appearance > Type Filters page
- press the Add... button
- the resulting dialog has a black strip across its bottom, which is a status area for displaying error messages

With 4.3M4 on Fedora 16, about half of the workbench is black after startup, including all toolbars and Console and Outline views.

Interestingly, I don't see any of the above problems when running on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit with GTK+ version 3.4.2. Not sure why Fedora should be different, I'm wondering if it happens with some specific GTK+ themes or something of that sort...

GTK+ is on 3.2.4 in Fedora 16. I'm using the standard GNOME 3 theme (Adwaita). Will test on Fedora 17 later.

I was trying to reproduce the same problem, but for me it works fine. Here is a screen-shot of Eclipse run on top of GTK+ 3 with Repository View opened:

I use standard Gnome theme, I am on Fedora 17, Eclipse 4.2.1 (M20120914-1800), GTK+ 3.4.4

I'm guessing that you'll see the problem with Eclipse 4.3M4.

On Fedora 17 with Gtk+ 3.4.4 Eclipse looks normal after starting up and the Git Repositories view is also fine.

Confirmed this with the latest I-build id I20130101-0800 on Fedora 17.

Closing, works in the latest on Ubuntu 12.04LTS.
