Description Anthony Brenelière CLA 2012-10-19 06:07:25 EDT
I have this bug since I switched to Eclipse Juno, i did not have it with Eclipse Indigo. I do use C++ IDE.

Each time i select an open type, typically when selecting a file in the opened file bar, or doing CTRL+TAB to switch from include file to souce file for example, then I have 2-seconds latency.

I may have 200kb datarate connection to the server that host the opened source files.

I did not have this problem before Juno.

Can you provide your configuration details? (What plugins are installed, which Linux distro, JRE, memory etc).

Does this slow down happen right away on start up? Do you have to run a while? Does it happen when you switch from files of the same type? (Like from a source file to a source file?)

The more detailed info we have, the better. Thanks!

It seems I do not have the problem anymore, I don't see what changed from the day I installed Eclipse Juno.

Distrib: RedHat 5
Configuration: uname -a
Linux svwglandvmi42 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 15:51:48 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It is a vmware station, with 4 GO RAM and SDD disk.

> Does this slow down happen right away on start up?
I restarted and it did not change anything, indexing projects was over.

> Do you have to run a while?
I had the problem at startup, with no task apparent in the background.

> Does it happen when you switch from files of the same type?(Like from a source file to a source file?)
Yes it did.

Many performance fixes have now been made in the Juno SR2 and Kepler development streams. If you are still encountering problems is encouraged to move up to a recent milestone or stable build, or apply the official performance patch on top of a Juno SR1 release package. Full details on the patch and background on the performance work can be found here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Juno_Performance_Investigation

If you continue to experience performance problems using Kepler M4 or later, Juno maintenance build M20121128-1200 or later, or using the Juno SR1 performance patch, please re-open this bug.
