From what I can tell, there are no window managers installed on the performance test hudson slave. 

You may recall, we have some unit tests that do not run right without one (forget the bug number, but there's one somewhere). 

Hudson seems to start Xvnc fine ... but ... no window managers. 

(For our usual unit tests we check if any of the common ones are running, and if not try to start metacity, but that command fails for our performance tests (which are really like our unit tests plus plus).
