Created attachment 218558 [details] Screenshot I20120710-0800 I'm using minimized view stacks just like I did use fast views. Today I noticed one more missing bit, in addition to bug 384240. If I expand a view from the minimized stack I would like to be able to close the view by clicking outside it. This works fine if I click on an editor or a different view, but in 3.x, with fast views, it worked even if I clicked on an empty editors area.
Tomasz, good pickup...I'll tag this for SR2.

I've re-opened this bug because it's the remaining case where the UI still doesn't act to take down the fast view...
Note that if you hit ESC or click the icon to close the fly out pane then the active part doesn't change. This is by design since we're not sure how the rest of the code would react to a 'null' active part. One consequence is that if you try to re-open the view it won't show. This needs to be addressed here as well.

http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.ui.git/commit/?h=R4_2_maintenance&id=d148d5a39d857d265ad844db90e665bddaa071b5 Hide all open trim stacks whenever a mouse down is detected in an empty stack (i.e. CTF#getItemCount() == 0). If we find cases where EAP applications run into issues we can look at tightening up the cases then... One known issue is that if you have the perspective stack minimized but open then a click on its empty editor area will close it. I can live with that for now...
Marking FIXED...
