Description Susan McCourt CLA 2012-06-07 14:59:53 EDT
I often will do a fetch/merge in git status 2 before committing (especially when I'm not working in a topic branch, so that I can avoid a merge commit). So my workflow is often...

1) check all my changes, stage them
2) fetch/merge
3) commit
4) push

I opened bug 382044 about all the left/right motion I had to do for step 1.
But when I get to step 2, I find I have to keep looking up/down, up/down.

The reason is that the fetch and merge are posting progress and status to the top notifications area. but then the password prompts show up in the section local slideout.

We coudl switch to use the "..." but we still need to post the results somewhere. Do we need section level notification areas?

Or perhaps in general these notificaitons should float near the triggering user action.
