Every year we take time to thank people in the Eclipse community who have helped us during the release. The file to update this year is www/eclipse/development/acknowledgements_4_2.php from /cvsroot/org.eclipse on dev.eclipse.org Please attach a patch or text if you don't have commit rights or forgot how to use CVS. Here is the acknowledgments page for 3.7 as a reference http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/acknowledgements_3_7.php
The Platform and JDT Text team would like to thank everyone who filed good bug reports and enhancement requests. Special thanks go to Anton Leherbauer and Danail Nachev for patches they submitted. JDT UI sends thanks to code contributors Sergey Prigogin, Paul Fullbright, Thomas Reinhardt, Björn Michael, Philippe Marschall, Michael Pellaton, and Stephan Herrmann.
Created attachment 216489 [details] Text and JDT UI acks (In reply to comment #1) Sorry, we missed two people. Please use this patch instead of comment 1. Hopefully, this will also avoid mangling Björn's name.
Created attachment 216584 [details] PDE acks
The JDT/Core team would like to thank Marcel Bruch for his contributions to Java content assist and for making content assist super-intelligent with the Code Recommenders project. And to Terry Parker and Samrat Dhillon for their useful contributions in Java model and search areas respectively. A special thanks goes to Olivier Thomann, who despite moving on to other projects, stays as enthusiastic about JDT/Core as ever and readily sets asides time for consultations when approached.
Created attachment 216766 [details] releng acknowledgements (Feel free to edit to fit with style/length of others ... my "first time").
Created attachment 216778 [details] JDT/Core acknowledgement I have made a couple of additions to the earlier message. Please use this patch instead for the JDT/Core acknowledgement.
The SWT team would like to thank everyone who filed bugs and helped improve the toolkit. Special thanks go to: Alexander Kurtakov, Andrew Overholt, Christopher Deckers, Dani Megert, Lina Kemmel, Markus Keller, McQ, Nam Quang Tran, Paul Webster, Raymond Lam, Remy Suen, Richard Schwerdtfeger, Steve Northover and Thomas Singer.
Created attachment 216833 [details] releng ack - spell checked, formated, in paragraph element Improved releng ack: provided as a patch (yes, I do still remember how to use CVS :), formatted and put in <p> element so no longer one big long hard to read line, and most importantly, spell checked! ... for which I'd like to acknowledge the kind and gentle encouragement of Markus Keller [well, that last one is not part of the formal acknowledgements :) ... though, I do appreciate such help from the whole Eclipse Committer Team! You are all great guys to work with! Especially to put up with my poor spelling/typing.]
I have incorporated all the acknowledgements up to and including comment #8: http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/acknowledgements_4_2.php For any further changes, please just paste the words in this bug rather than a patch.
Sorry, I messed up my HTML. Please change Böjrn => Björn And I saw another spelling error: Bienjamin Cabe => Benjamin Cabe (or: Benjamin Cabé )
(In reply to comment #10) > Sorry, I messed up my HTML. Please change > Böjrn => Björn > > And I saw another spelling error: > Bienjamin Cabe => Benjamin Cabe (or: Benjamin Cabé ) Fixed in HEAD.
For Platform UI: First, Platform UI would like to thank the whole Juno release train community for their efforts to make Juno on 4.2 happen. Without their active participation this would never have been possible. Over the course of the last few years many folks have worked on the new Platform UI code and we thank them all but would like to extend special thanks to the following people who have made (and continue to make) significant contributions to the Eclipse 4 efforts: Lars Vogel, Sopot Cela, Dimitar Iordanov, Alex Ruiz, Patrick Tasse, Victor V Rubezhny, Sascha Becher, Hendrik Eeckhaut, Stephan Wahlbrink, Martin Kirst, Shahin Kahriz, Paul Fullbright, Florina Craciunescu, Mohamed Tarief
To "link in" to 3.8 and 4.2 pages, I looked at 3.7 release as an example, and assume we can follow that. There, under "New and Noteworthy" we have "3.7 Ack"and "3.7 Readme". = = = = Release Build: 3.7 June 14, 2011. ... New and Noteworthy Eclipse 3.7 Acknowledgments Eclipse 3.7 Readme = = = = I assume we want links on both 3.8 and 4.2 DL pages? But, I assume content (and underlying files) are exactly the same? I guess easiest thing to do is have Eclipse 3.7 Acknowledgments Eclipse 3.7 Readme and Eclipse 4.2 Acknowledgments Eclipse 4.2 Readme But, I'd be tempted to have Eclipse Juno Acknowledgments Eclipse Juno Readme on both, so its more obvious it is same content, and users won't be tempted to read carefully and look for differences? Do let me know if in fact there are differences. It appears the 3.7 page for acks were "proper" PHP pages with proper nova theme, etc. ... and, I just noticed, on "www.eclipse.org"! http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/acknowledgements_3_7.php The readme, appears to have been a less stylish HTML file http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/readme_eclipse_3.7.html Let me know when some drafts are available (and what names/full URL is) and I'll "link them in" to hidden DL pages. (i.e. best to do early, this week, even if content changes a little before next Wednesday, just so I have time to fix DL pages when hand editing).
All the links are in place I believe.
