When uploading a patch as an attachment I like to explain the various modifications that went into that patch. Typically, collecting that information requires that I can still browse sources, compare against older versions etc. All this can be perfectly done when creating a new comment. However, uploading an attachment is a separate, modal workflow. Hence, I'd appreciate the option for a combined workflow: 1. craft a comment 2. select a file for attaching 2.a. specify details (summary, file type) 3. submit both in one go Please correct me if this is already possible (I couldn't see how). FYI: In this case I'm using the bugzilla connector. I realize that with topic branches in git and perhaps gerrit this may become obsolete, except for non-code attachments, but some projects still attach patches to bugs :)
Frank, is the comment in the attachment dialog always submitted separately?
(In reply to comment #1) > Frank, is the comment in the attachment dialog always submitted separately? Though I'm not Frank :), let me try to clarify: I don't see a problem regarding the comment specified during the modal submit-attachment workflow. Attachment and this comment are correctly submitted in one go. My problem is the fact that this dialog is modal, in contrast to "regular" comments that can be edited in the task editor. So I would like to "stage" the attachment, then use the regular comment editor, and only then click "submit". Just in case this wasn't clear :) I just tried the reverse: edit a comment and *after* that invoke "Attach..." but the wizard seems to be unaware of any comments in the task editor, it's again asking for a comment without pre-populating the text from what I've previously entered.
Thanks for clarifying. We are tracking a very similar requirement on bug 329300. It'd be great if you added your input there. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 329300 ***
