Under Windows XP the OLE support works great for being to hook into Microsoft products such as Outlook. These libraries do not function correctly for Outlook on Windows 7. I need to be able to make use of OleControlSite in order to get a hook into when the user sends the email generated from my program so action can be taken. I was able to reference another bug report about OleAutomation, where I was able to workaround this issue by getting the SWT code and rebuilding it with the specified fix put in place. OleControlSite still does not work, and it is a key piece of my application. I always am met with the following error message: org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Failed to create Ole Client. result = -2147221164
Hi Bob, I'am not a native windows programmer so its just a guess: perhaps it's caused by a 32/64 bit conflict? I **guess** it might not work if the calling process (eclipse) running as 64 process but the office application is not (or vice versa).
*** Bug 442194 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
Please reopen if this is still an issue on Windows 10.
