Description Nick Boldt CLA 2012-02-04 15:56:27 EST
In Eclipse 3.7 and 3.7.1, there was a org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments feature, which we use in our Indigo-based target platform:

<unit id="org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments.feature.group" version="1.0.200.r37x_v20110803-7D-FHkFAFkNZZO9PfBZStN"/>

1011 nickb@build:~/downloads/eclipse/updates/3.7
$ find . -name org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments\*
./R-3.7.1-201109091335/features/org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments_1.0.200.r37x_v20110803-7D-FHkFAFkNZZO9PfBZStN.jar.pack.gz
./R-3.7.1-201109091335/features/org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments_1.0.200.r37x_v20110803-7D-FHkFAFkNZZO9PfBZStN.jar
./R-3.7-201106131736/features/org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments_1.0.100.v20110123-7C-FGBF9JgLWWM0LWAWLrL.jar.pack.gz
./R-3.7-201106131736/features/org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments_1.0.100.v20110123-7C-FGBF9JgLWWM0LWAWLrL.jar

It was also in Indigo SR0 and SR1, because that site aggregated in the Eclipse site.

However, that feature has vanished, probably some time after 2011/12/12 13:40, when org.eclipse.pde.api.tools.ee.fragments_1.0.200.r37x_v20110803-7D-FHkFAFkNZZO9PfBZStN.jar was removed.

So, two questions:

1. Was this removal intentional?

2. If so, is there a replacement feature? If not, can/should it be put back?

from dup'd bug, should be back in for RC4 (just in time!)

test early, test often
