Using Build id: 20120202-1513 (Juno M5 C/C++) 1. Create a C++ project, Hello world 2. With the focus on the editor and no text selected, the Manage configurations button (looks like a compass) and the Build active configuration button (hammer) are disabled in the window toolbar If text is selected, then the buttons are enabled. It works correctly with Indigo SR2-RC2.
The 'enablesFor' attribute of these contributions all specify '+' which implies a selection of "one or more". So it almost feels like this is working as intended. Perhaps 3.x ignores text selections, will need more poking...
I think this is another case of Eclipse 4 having "superior" lazy loading. The enablement code primarily comes from ChangeBuildConfigActionBase's onSelectionChanged(*) method. However, this is not called if the delegate hasn't been instantiated yet. So if you've never actually clicked on the tool item, it would never have been instantiated. On the other hand, if you just click on it once, having a zero-length selection in the text editor will now still keep the tool item enabled. :O
