A bug reporter without editbugs permission can change Product/Component of a bug, but not the Assignee field, not even to the default assignee. This causes bugs that are lost in between two components, since the assignee stays at the old value and thus the new inbox and listeners to it don't get a mail. Real-life example is bug 369990, and I just verified this in bug 370073. Either Bugzilla also updates the assignee to the default assignee of the new component, or product/component changes should be forbidden for users without editbugs.
Indeed! This is not good. Someone has reported this to b.m.o in January ... So it has me thinking it's a regression. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=715101
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
Denis, is this still an issue?
Still an issue, as it's not closed at Bugzilla.
We won't be investing any resources into improving Bugzilla, as we encourage projects to use GitHub and Eclipse GitLab (https://gitlab.eclipse.org). Please see: Shutdown this bugzilla instance. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=577151
