The recent cross-project-dev "Orbit and WTP are not greedy, how about you?" posting reminds me:

I've been finding step-wise installation of Xtext from Eclipse repos difficult since the google.collect change. (Composite installation from itemis works fine).

The problem is that MWE has google dependencies that MWE does not supply; you need Xtext to provide MWE's requirements and you need MWE to install Xtext.
