Description Nicolas Bros CLA 2012-01-19 04:17:40 EST
download.eclipse.org used to redirect requests to archive.eclipse.org automatically. This makes it possible to archive old releases (in order to free up space in the main — mirrored — download area) in a transparent way as far as the final user is concerned.

But this doesn't work anymore:
http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/modisco/downloads/drops/0.9.0/R201106080421/MODISCO-Update-0.9.0.zip

The above link should download from the archive automatically instead of displaying an error page.

download.e.o has never automatically redirected to archives. The mirror script does this.

A link to:

http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/modisco/downloads/drops/0.9.0/R201106080421/MODISCO-Update-0.9.0.zip

Should be:

http://eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/modeling/mdt/modisco/downloads/drops/0.9.0/R201106080421/MODISCO-Update-0.9.0.zip

If you use links like this, you can move files from download.e.o to archive.e.o (preserving the same path) and never have to update your links.

Thank you for your answer.

For future reference, Bug 349141 describes a procedure to move update sites to archive.eclipse.org, while keeping them accessible from the same URL.
